Customized minipets? - Guild Wars Forums

I bought a minipet today, I thought it was dedicated and I can use it, but after the trade I realized that its customized, and not dedicated, and I cannot use it. When did Anet change it? Or am I just stupid?

I think you need to take it to your HoM and it will change from customized to dedicated. It may not let you though, as IIRC this was account specific. This change happened several months ago.

Is the GW:EN trail is going on? I thought it ended already.

Anyway, even if you had access to GW:EN I'm not sure you can do anything about it as you are not the one who customized/dedicated the mini. But the one who did should have their name on it, so you might try tracking him/her down and asking them to update the mini from customized to dedicated for you. Be sure to get some collateral first before you just hand over the mini.

Initially, HoM minipets became customized not dedicated. This meant they could only be taken out by the owner. Anet then changed HoM pets from customized to dedicated, meaning they couldn't be displayed in anyone else's HoM but could be taken out by anyone. A patch was made the allowed the player who customized a minipet in the HoM early on to change it to dedicated.

Difficult to say whether or not a customized minipet could be changed into a dedicated by anyone other than the player that it is customized for, though it would be worth a try if you paid very much for it.

Basically, you aren't stupid. The guy who sold you the mini is stupid. He could have easily, freely changed the mini for you before you bought it.

Either way it would have shown on the Trade Window a warning either "Dedicated" OR "Customized"
Always try to take the time to read the Trade Window on anything just to be sure.
